Wangfujing Area in Beijing is rich in culture and history, the urban fabric is already an important part of the heritage of Beijing. Among all the options we can impose on this area, we choose the one that mixes the old with the new for visitors to experience the heritage while enjoying the modern commercial offerings.

The masterplan renovated the mid-age new paper building into a modern mall while keeping the facade that embodied near-time memories. It also kept the two clusters of traditional courtyard houses, converting them into boutique retails. Meanwhile, a mass renewal is proposed for the rest of the area, to form an interconnected circulation with modern retail streets for people to hang out while experiencing the rich story that Wangfujing means to tell.
