Tower design for Qianhai HQ Master Plan:

The client, Huaqiang Group, is China's leading electronic product manufacturer and tech innovator. A computational approach to generate the design solution for its new headquarters towers would align with its culture and resonate with the company's identity and vision.

Metaball algorithm generates dynamic and smooth boundaries for given points. With a 3-point metaball, a series of variations can be achieved by injecting continuous variables. These can be used as floor edge variations on different levels to create desired tower interior features, like lobby space, atrium space for meet-ups, sky lounge, or garden, and all the floor plans share the same typology. Plus, the softness of the massing is necessary to combat the wind load from the ocean.
