It’s part of the main facade studies for Powerlong Zhongshan Plaza. The design approach is to create a backlit facade that serves as a backdrop for the nightlife that enriches the nighttime urban scenery around the project.

Zhongshan is a southern City in China. The long summer makes nightlife a very popular option in the region as it avoids the hot and humid daytime travel. A backlit wall would be a great fit. Because it costs less and with nearly no maintenance needed. The perforated metal panel cladding facade is mature in manufacture and installation. So we went the setup.

The pattern is from an inspiration of nature, a type of flower you can see everywhere in the city. with the punch hole size responding to the graphic pixel we can recreate any pattern on to the pattern system.
