The study is a bold imagination about whether urban space or to be specific, human shelter can be growing with the natural. The reason is urbanization reinforces human society going in the direction of anti-natural, deforestation, draining all resources to support population growth.
This research tries to answer the question by finding the middle ground between urban growth and nature preservation. Using rapid growth bamboo as material to generate human shelter above ground, and because of the toughness and flexibility of the species. we can use robots to find the best of the best bamboo, then bend and wave them, while they are still growing, into occupiable space in place.
Because of the natural distribution of bamboo’s root system, the habitable space will be also dynamically distributed following the bamboo’s steps. the result will be a neat community that is deeply bonded with nature.
